Wendy Greuel Joins Garcetti in Endorsing Luz Rivas for Assembly

Former L.A. City Controller and mayoral candidate Wendy Greuel today endorsed Luz Rivas for Assembly in California’s 39th District.

Earlier this week, L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti endorsed Rivas. Garcetti and Greuel both ran for Mayor in 2013.

“As someone who cares deeply about the Valley, I support Luz Rivas because she will be our best advocate in the Assembly, said Greuel. “We need an Assemblymember who understands our needs and priorities, and who has a proven record of making a difference for Valley families. That’s Luz Rivas. She is easily the best choice."

“Wendy Greuel is a longtime champion of the Valley,” said Rivas. “She’s worked hard to make the Valley a better place to live, and I intend to do the same.”

Rivas is running in the 39th Assembly District in in both the April 3 Special Election to fill out the remainder of the current term, and in the regularly scheduled 2018 election for the new term that begins in January.

Rivas has secured a large majority of the most significant endorsements in race, including the California Democratic Party, Planned Parenthood of Los Angeles, Latinas Lead, Mayor Garcetti, Congressman Tony Cardenas, Secretary of State Alex Padilla, LA County Supervisors Janice Hahn and Sheila Kuehl, and LA Councilwomen Nury Martinez and Monica Rodriguez.

The 39th District includes Arleta, Granada Hills, Lake View Terrace, Mission Hills, North Hollywood, Pacoima, Sun Valley, Sunland-Tujunga, Sylmar, and San Fernando.
